Charlotte Sherwin has over two decades of experience with the written word across the MENA region and beyond. With a BA Hons in English and a Masters with Distinction, she started out in journalism on international newspapers and magazines in both the UK and Australia. She then became an English trainer and international examiner. Following this she put her skills to work as an award winning advertising copywriter and then a PR Director. She has worked on many diverse brands including Jumeirah Group, Abu Dhabi government, Qatar government, Kellogg’s, TDIC, DME, The Times etc.
Carol Avison is the final word when it comes to project management. Having started out in the world of civil engineering, Carol is a stickler for getting things done properly and is a straight shooter. More recently Carol worked in the world of marketing communications and is pretty nifty with the pen too. Carol has lived and worked in just about every GCC country and with 25 years experience under her belt, she understands this region inside out.
Jane Roikonen is a Senior Marketing & Innovation professional with 20+ years FMCG/CPG experience. Her strength lies in her comprehensive understanding of how to transform consumer insights into practical applications that deliver brand value and commercial results. Jane has headed up Marketing teams across the Middle East, Asia and Africa region and has senior experience in Diageo Plc, Imperial Tobacco, Dashen Breweries, Pepsi Cola International, Body Shop, Burger King and Guinness. Her heavyweight marketing expertise offers another dimension to Word’s offerings.
Dominic Beesley is a multi-talented word-magician. He brings to the table significant experience as a journalist and has a BA Honours in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Bath, UK. Prior to joining Word, he worked his journalistic powers on UAE publications such as Time Out where he was an editor. This gives Word insider access to key media contacts and a great writer. Dominic is magic when it comes to Social Media and his skills in this area are invaluable to Word.

Word teamed up with leading brand consultancy Jansen Harris and the Siemens marketing team at Masdar City to write Siemens’ B2S marketing collateral across the MENA region. This involved researching and providing rich evidence of the meaningful contributions made to society.
The “Siemens – Business to Society” (B2S) approach measures sustainable development and highlights how the organisation fulfils the needs of the societies it works in.
Word researched and wrote a 24-page supplement for Hotelier Magazine on behalf of Aliaxis Group. This involved interviews and research related to the UAE hospitality industry.
Trench & Associates are a leading Dubai boutique law firm. Word Communications manages all Public Relations ensuring reputation management and putting the firm forward in the media as a key thought leader in the UAE legal community. Word also assists in penning thought provoking articles that media will pick up. This has resulted in comprehensive coverage across both print and digital and with Principal Cynthia Trench being the go-to lawyer for many journalists when incisive and accurate commentary is required.
Word collaborated with Visa’s San Francisco agency to create content for its UAE Visa Innovation Centre website. This involved on the ground research to compile a Dubai guide plus other website sections. The guide included restaurant reviews and identifying and reporting on key Dubai attractions.

Gostudylink is a UK based company which offers more than 350 courses in 9 countries. It was formed in 2008, taking over the established contacts of ISTA, which had been operating since 1998. Whether it is university entrance, language learning, a young learner course or teacher training, gostudylink finds the right course.
Education has become increasingly more important in the Middle East and many learners are keen to further their studies overseas. The challenge is to build awareness of gostudylink in the Middle Eastern market. This includes PR support and leveraging on suitable events across the region.
Word continues to provide PR support to gostudylink and awareness building activities have led to a healthy ROI in terms of sales conversions.
Voucherport is an online platform offering deals and discounts from hundreds of merchants in Dubai. It is a first of its kind in the region offering e-commerce which is convenient for both consumers and merchants
Voucherport is a great idea but building awareness, both B2B and B2C, is key to its success. Word continues to put its PR and copywriting skills to the test to ensure that Voucherport breaks through the clutter and emerges as the innovative and user friendly leader it is.
Word penned a radio commercial that ran across 3 stations and provided the impetus required to get merchants around town visiting the platform to check out how their business could profit. Abercrombie & Kent is legendary in the world of luxury travel. Operating since 1962, it offers bespoke experiences in some of the world’s most inspirational destinations. Famous clients have included everybody from Bill Gates, to Oprah Winfrey.
Abercrombie & Kent have boutiques in the most prestigious locations in the world including Harrods and Monaco. Next on the agenda was an exclusive boutique in Abu Dhabi, a first foray into the Middle Eastern market. Word was tasked with providing support in the launch of the boutique and with building awareness in the region
The launch included a media breakfast hosted by Geoffrey Kent, the founder. Word targeted English, Arabic, Chinese and Russian publications in the region. Following this over 25 media and photographers enjoyed a luxury Polo Brunch and one-to-one interviews with Geoffrey Kent. Media coverage was excellent and strong relationships were established for future events. As a result of the successful launch, the story has continued– Word is now contracted to handle Abercrombie & Kent’s PR in the region and continues to leverage A & K in the media. We’re going from strength to strength and in 2015 public perception of A&K meant they won all the travel awards in the UAE (Conde Nast Traveller Readership Awards and the ULTRAS).
