SETTING SAIL WITH WORD
October 11th, 2014
This city is developing at a fast rate of knots. Quite simply it is fast becoming an aspirational blueprint for urban life. We know because we were here two decades ago when the biggest landmark was the Trade Center. The rest was pretty much sand. And more sand.
These days the Dubai skyline is absolutely breathtaking. And even more breathtaking if you take yourself out of the chaos of city life and view it from the water. It’s here that you can clear your head, sit back and really see the results.
There’s something very satisfying about seeing clean crisp results, don’t you think? When you are racing down Sheikh Zayed Road late for a meeting, or gridlocked on Sheikh Zayed Road, again late for a meeting, it’s very easy to not see the wood for the trees and sweat the small stuff. You don’t really take stock of what is going on around you. So take our advice. Get out on the water one day and take a refreshing, uncluttered view of this amazing city . Believe us, you’ll feel proud to be part of it.
Which brings us to what we were trying to share with you. Because we liked the offshore experience so much we decided to sponsor a yachting race team – in a humble way of course. This weekend Race Team ‘Boracic’ set sail donning gear sponsored by ‘Word’. A strange name for a yacht but we are reliably informed that it comes from “Boracic lint’ or the Cockney rhyming slang for ‘skint’. Names aside, let’s hope that the Boracic / Word alliance is nothing but very rewarding.
